PTA members Honored at Lynbrook Founders’ Day celebration

February has been the month to honor the founders of the Parent Teachers Association and to honor local PTA leaders for more than 110 years, and the Lynbrook school community joined together on Feb. 1 to do just that.

Each year, the PTAs of the Lynbrook School District honor those who have made unselfish contributions to the schools and community on Founders’ Day. The National Congress of Mothers, subsequently known as the National Congress of Parents and Teachers, and eventually the PTA, was founded on this day in 1897 by 2,000 people to promote the welfare of children in the home, school, and society. The Lynbrook Council of PTAs held a ceremony in the Lynbrook High School gymnasium to celebrate this year’s recipients. – Source
